Dental Implants

Teeth are incredibly strong and allow us to eat anything we want. They also contribute to our unique facial appearance. For patients with missing teeth, you no longer have to live with a missing tooth or teeth. There are several great options to correct the problem of missing teeth.

One of the best options is dental implants. Dental implants are little titanium posts placed into the jaw bone that provide a foundation for replacement teeth. Dental implant technology helps preserve the jaw bone, as well as, give a more comfortable and natural looking smile. They are also the most stable form of replacement teeth available.

When are dental implants used?

Dental implants are perfect if you are missing a single tooth or multiple teeth. They can anchor bridges in place or support full upper and lower dentures. A dental implant is the closest thing there is to a natural tooth.

The three-step dental implant process:

First, the dental implant is surgically embedded into the jaw bone. Because the implant is titanium, which is a biocompatible metal, the jaw bone heals painlessly around the implant and holds it strongly in place. This process will usually take several weeks to allow the bone to heal completely.

Next, an abutment is set on top of the dental implant, providing a surface for the final cemented crown.

A customized tooth or crown is designed with the right size, shape, and color to blend in with your other teeth, which is placed on the dental implant. At this point, your new implant will be almost impossible to tell apart from your natural tooth or teeth. You can chew, smile, and talk with no differentiation at all.

Dental implants are a perfect solution if you are missing one tooth or multiple teeth.
